5 Jot [ Voyager Authors ]

Jot was a wonderful, unexpected surprise of a writer. Seemingly coming from out of nowhere on a challenge I posed, she not only wrote it, but she wrote it in such an endearing, straight-forward manner that just about anyone can relate to her Kathryn. Firmly avoiding pathos and self-punishment, Janeway really shines in Jot\'s series as she tackles something she had never been able to do with the same single-minded focus that made her a capable leader... and then conquers it. And Jot definitely made me smile with this. No easy task.

1 Abbey [ Voyager Authors ]

Abbey\'s writing conveys all of the strength of the women of Voyager without sacrificing their femininity in the process. A truly laudable achievement.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:37 17th March

2 Alara Rogers [ Voyager Authors ]

Alara\'s Judgement Day series showed a story of massive scope told through a series of shorter stories and still carried the sense of enormity. All of the conceivable consequences are seen through the experiences of the characters as shown in very insightfully crafted works.

3 D\'Alaire [ Voyager Authors ]

D\'Alaire\'s Guerdon was an impressive display of storytelling at its finest. Her writing keeps the reader engaged in the story from beginning to end. Intricate plotlines spun with all of the deftness of a spider spinning a web.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:39 17th March

4 Gojirob [ Voyager Authors ]

Gojirob owns the drabble genre, always seeming to convey a broad variety of human emotions or humor with so few words and still make it appear effortless.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:39 17th March

5 Jot [ Voyager Authors ]

Jot\'s work showed a delightful sense of humor but also an impressive understanding of Kathryn Janeway, which is impressive given how complicated and nuanced a character Janeway is.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:40 17th March

6 Mistyfur [ Voyager Authors ]

Mistyfur\'s Janeway/Chakotay stories this year carried a much more realistic tone, showing how circumstances can change people and relationships--not always for the better. It is certainly courageous to write J/C that isn\'t of the happily ever after variety and Mistyfur did just that.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:40 17th March

7 Rocky [ Voyager Authors ]

Rocky is such a talented writer that it shouldn\'t be surprising, but she does an absolutely amazing job of showing an ageing Kathryn Janeway. The endings are usually heart-wrenching, but the characterizations of Janeway are so spot-on, reflecting not only the character we know from the series but also incorporating the passage of time in a realistic, believable manner.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:41 17th March

8 R. Sexton [ Voyager Authors ]

This year Ronda\'s works were brief, drabbles, that nonetheless still managed to capture the essence of the characters just as skillfully as her longer stories.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:42 17th March

9 SL Watson [ Voyager Authors ]

SL Watson showed that she can do more than TOS, she can also write a strong Janeway. She brings a unique perspective to the post-Endgame Voyager setting with all of the writing skill that is evident throughout her work.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:42 17th March

10 Stephen Ratliff [ Voyager Authors ]

With his Voyager story, Stephen did what he does best, weaving classic settings or traditions from the world around us into the Star Trek universe with a healthy dose of humor.
-- Whoa Nellie, 21:43 17th March

11 Vanhunks [ Voyager Authors ]

As usual, Vanhunks delivers wonderfully crafted tales that provide intriguing storylines while perfectly capturing the core personality of the characters. She has a knack for using words to convey an image in a way that is almost melodious to read.

3 D\'Alaire [ Voyager Authors ]

I\'m glad that Alara Rogers returns with her prodigious, historic talents, and feel that for this awards, she best illustrates authorship, through the Voyager-heavy components of her current Judgement Day arc. This is highly likely the first time I\'ve been exposed to so many voices, so many viewpoints at once, making substantial the experience I keep on gaining through her writing, as is the gift of her sharing with readers. Please complete, at your pleasure, your approximately 33!

1 Abbey [ Voyager Authors ]

Abbey writes the Janeway I love to love: powerful, sexual, tough, not perfect, fierce, passionate, with both a dark and a tender side. . .she\'s true to the canon character, yet so much more complex. And then there\'s the matter of Abbey\'s considerable writing skills; I\'m particularly fond of her sure pacing and her precise diction.

7 Rocky [ Voyager Authors ]

Rocky has already heard all my superlatives about her writing -- it\'s probably enough for me to say now that she\'s one of my top-five favorite Trek writers (and believe me when I say I\'ve read fanfic by probably two hundred different Trek writers in my ten years in the fandom.) The error-free prose, the carefully-nuanced characters (especially Janeway), the inventive plots, the clear style all combine to make virtually every Rocky story a treat. I love the Janeway/Picard series, and Rocky\'s take on Tuvok, and of course, the \"Glory Days\" universe. I have a good two dozen Rocky stories in my \"Keeper\" file (fics I\'ve printed in hard copy) and at least a dozen more on the to-print list.

3 D\'Alaire [ Voyager Authors ]

D\'Alaire is one of the best P/T authors out there, and I can\'t begin to say how happy I am that she is still writing and posting.

The ASC Awards are a project of the ASC-VSO, led this year by Seema (Awards-Coordinator), aided by Sara (Assistant Coordinator) and Stephen (Awards Tech Support) They run every year from March to April for stories posted to ASC (alt.startrek.creative) between February 1 and January 31. A Tribble was harmed when we moved the voting booth. A little ... okay he's dead but there are plenty more around.
