I may have started the challenge that resulted in this story over on ASC, with this really bad title, but I never could have forseen a story like this (especially given the venue I gave the challenge in) Saavik having David\'s child has been done many times, but never so well, and never with such a twist. The point of view is solid, and the tale worthwhile.

Not only were the \"Outtakes\" drabbles a great answer to Rob\'s challenge, they were funny. I admit to groaning a couple of times when I read them, but they definitely made my day brighter!

Nobody writes Kirk like Jungle Kitty. This is the best fanfic take I\'ve seen on \"Generations\", and one that
keeps Kirk true to himself. I can definitely see him rejecting the hollow and artificial \'happiness\' of the Nexus, down to refusing to \'use\' his memories of the people who meant the most to him and finding a way to outsmart whatever intelligence was behind it. And I especially enjoyed seeing the interweaving of both TOS canon with Jungle Kitty\'s own.

\"Manhood set on stun\" is one of those lines that should be set in stone for all eternity. I also liked the \"bebop chant\" and \"look at the lettuce.\" It took either sheer genius or a truly twisted individual to write these.

This has to many good lines to quote. Thanks for the laughs.

There\'s never a Kirk around when you need one, unfortunately!

These are priceless! My favorite was seeing Khan\'s line worked in so well.

I love the idea of a \"What Would Kirk Do?\" T-shirt.

Few of the stories I\'ve read this year have left me as emotionally moved as this one. From the opening descriptions of how frail Uhura was, plus the realization that the S/U saga would by necessity be coming to a close one day, I had a feeling she was going to die in this story. But I didn\'t expect it to hit me so hard. I was especially touched by the way this story echoed the early days of the S/U courtship so beautifully, particularly the final scene in which Spock scattered her ashes along that dusty lane. I always expect a Wildcat story to be wonderful (and I have never been disappointed) but the author really outdid herself this time. The full picture of Uhura\'s and Spock\'s lives together, as represented by their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered all around them (and Saavik couldn\'t have been more Uhura\'s child if she\'d given birth to her) was very well done. I particularly loved Uhura\'s final moments, of Spock and Saavik surrounding her with love, of Spock recounting their early meeting and days together on board the Enterprise, and then Dantria. This story truly represents the end of an era; there\'s a real sense of dwindling and diminishing of the old TOS gang, even for the ones who are left. I\'m just grateful to have been along for the ride (and even more so that I can always go back and relive the magic on Wildcat\'s site).

This was very clever, and not too much of a stretch to envision happening!

Very chilling and disturbing.

Rob isn\'t kidding when he calls these \'pun-ishment\'!

I like how Kirk is in essence still himself, despite the distressingly changed body, and enjoyed the bonding between Kirk and Uhura as well.

Interesting metaphor for present day events, although I can\'t see Spock letting his emotions show so overtly.

This is a very poignant and thought-provoking story. I especially like Spock\'s segment.

A frightening look at the underbelly of TV shows! This Trek version of \"Tootsie\" worked very well.
