A Higher Duty by Istannor

A long and satisfying story that takes Kirk on an interesting journey. All of the crew characterizations are very well done, as are the OC\'s.
-- Rocky, 01:26 04th March

A Moment of Grace by PineTrees

The mood and tone of this story are excellent. Kirk\'s state of mind is conveyed very well. I particularly like the refrain \"It had been a very rough year.\"
-- Rocky, 01:27 04th March

Ceremonial Duties - All Hands by PineTrees

The interactions among the characters really make the story. Very enjoyable.
-- Rocky, 01:28 04th March

Eugenics Wars 1: King of Siddhartha Street Khan by sisko2374@aol.com (Sisko2374)

Very interesting beginning for Khan\'s story. I\'m looking forward to seeing more.
-- Rocky, 01:29 04th March

Incognitus Militis by Schemer

I truly believe Kirk takes every one of those deaths personally. Good story.
-- Rocky, 01:29 04th March

Walkie-Talkie Wrath of Khan by Paul Gadzikowski

I\'m quite impressed at how the author pulled off this feat. This has got to be one of the more unique story formats ever.
-- Rocky, 01:30 04th March

Seven Habits of Highly Effective Vulcans by Mr. PineTrees

The author has obviously made a long and careful study of one of the best Trek aliens. My favorite was the line about imprecision.
-- Rocky, 01:31 04th March

Symbiosis by Ventura33

Oh man. I don\'t even know where to begin with this one. Peeps, tribbles, grapefruits, peach bubble bath...all combine to make one funny story.
-- Rocky, 01:31 04th March

3 Bill Livingston

Bill is another mainstay of TOS and I really like his take on Kirk.
-- Rocky, 01:39 04th March

11 Istannor

It\'s good to see Istannor back posting on the newsgroup again. Looking forward to more stories.
-- Rocky, 01:40 04th March

13 Jungle Kitty

Whether it\'s writing humor or drama or poetry or prose (or combinations thereof), Jungle Kitty is one of the shining lights of TOS. Nobody writes Kirk like she does. And then there\'s Brandt, the OC, who *should* be canon. My wish for the coming year is for more stories from Jungle Kitty.
-- Rocky, 01:40 04th March

22 PineTrees

I like PineTrees\' focus on Kirk\'s character, particularly his interaction with his crew. I\'m looking forward to seeing more from her next year.
-- Rocky, 01:41 04th March

24 Rob Morris

Whether it\'s classic Trek, Ancient Destroyer, drabble, humor, challenge or serious drama, Rob shows he\'s a master of TOS and its characters.
-- Rocky, 01:42 04th March

31 Ventura33

I always look forward to Ventura33\'s TOS stories, with or without peach bubble bath. Or Hortas.
-- Rocky, 01:42 04th March

32 Wildcat

I am always blown away by Wildcat\'s ability to evoke so much, so many feelings of love and loss and wonder and grief and acceptance. Even though she only wrote one story this year, she certainly deserves to be acclaimed as the best TOS author this year.
-- Rocky, 01:43 04th March

Time for a Change by T\'Lin

A fun drabble -- f/f PLUS Bette Davis. I completely agree with Christine: Rand has always needed new hair.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:13 04th March

Pun-ishment 32 by Rob Morris

This drabble is just as pun-ishing as the others in this series, and it\'s one of my favorites. Just the thought of Khan singing this little ditty. . .
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:15 04th March

Veils by Farfalla the Butterfly-Kitten

The mental picture this drabble creates is priceless. Amanda\'s thoughts are fun, too.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:24 04th March

Backwards and In High Heels by Jungle Kitty

I loved this gender-bending story, from the hilarious scene of Roddenberry naming the characters (Taboo and Jamocha, indeed) to the \"Tootsie\" homage to the great last line and the Ginger Rogers title. Whatever he thinks, it\'s not Gene who\'s the genius. It\'s Ms. Kitty.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:34 04th March

Symbiosis by Ventura33

Grapefruit peeps, Tribble contraceptives, and Kirk with sexual ethical standards. A fantasy indeed, and quite an enjoyable one.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:40 04th March

The Porch by PineTrees

An inventive look at an adolescent Kirk; the characters and setting of this story work very well.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:45 04th March

Not So Sacred Ground by Alex Voy

A very clever series shift, beautifully-paced, with the perfect title and last line.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:50 04th March

Outtakes by Rocky

The famous words in this drabble transfer so smoothly from the original to Trek that I can almost believe they *were* said by Kirk and not by that other breathless bastion of ego.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:56 04th March

Retreat by Alex Voy

In her summary, Alex asks, \"What if Seven of Nine had joined Kirk\'s Enterprise instead of Voyager?\" The answer -- things would have happened EXACTLY as described here. Having the \"bitter\" McCoy as speaker is an excellent choice.
-- Kelly Chambliss, 23:59 04th March

The ASC Awards are a project of the ASC-VSO, led this year by Seema (Awards-Coordinator), aided by Rocky (Assistant Coordinator) and Stephen (Awards Tech Support) They run every year from March to April for stories posted to ASC (alt.startrek.creative) between February 1 and January 31. A Tribble was harmed when we moved the voting booth. A little ... okay he's dead but there are plenty more around.
