6Kindred Spirits by Gamin Davis
This conversation between Tuvok and Spock works beautifully. Gamin manages to make both characters distinctly themselves and yet very similar. And the ending -- very satisfying.

I have always felt that Kirk and Janeway were kindred spirits, and it had much more to it than that both had officers of Vulcan blood on their senior staffs. It was very funny when Janeway made her wisecrack about Kirk's "cowboy" ways in "Flashback," because Janeway's tendency to a similar brand of diplomacy was such a constant. As a result, this story--whether a dream, another flashback of sorts, or just the perceptions of a Vulcan with a long memory--was just right.

"Listen: there's a hell of a good universe next door; lets go" is a charming story, and a fitting end (or beginning rather) to the Charlie Evans and the Amanda Rogers stories as we saw them in the Original Series episode, Charlie X, and the Next Generation episode ,True-Q. This is a very sweet interaction, and somehow I think these two are going to be okay. Her basic humanity against his brattiness will somehow work out all right in the end. As usual, Alara Rogers (any relation? ) has a sure hand when it comes to writing the Q. She makes it look effortless. Nobody writes the Q as well as she does. .

This was a fun character sketch of Mister Mott and his dealings with Morn. I loved the line about Morn being able to give Picard or Sisko a run for his money. A thought "A Hairy Situation" was one short, fun tale more than worth the read and captured the characters well. This was another good story from Cait N.

There was a challenge to write about any two characters in Trek (crossing series) and this I thought was a fascinating pair to throw together, Charlie X of the Original Series and Amanda Rogers of the Next Generation. Two omnipotent beings (or near enough in Charlie's case that makes little to no difference), both adolescents, the similarities are so striking that it is an irresistible idea and a wonder it hasn't been done before. I like how well Alara sets Charlie up in the opening paragraph. He's immediately recognizable from his personality and situation to anyone familiar with the Original Series. (And he's very well evoked throughout. I loved the line about him hating being laughed at) I loved the descriptions, the narrative, the dialogue, the whole interaction between them. Alara is so good at depicting what you might think is the near-impossible to convey--these nearly god-like beings. "Listen, there's a hell of a good universe next door, lets go" is a lovely story.

Ooh, I like this. It takes a character I always liked and pairs her (in friendship, even better) with a character I would have happily wished into a cornfield and makes them both sympathetic. Very good story. I wouldn't mind seeing another about them.
