18When Irish Eyes Are Talaxian by RFK
Very funny, this is a story one could read over and over. :)

2Before the After by Court
The author did a beautiful job of filling in one of the most wondered about aspects of the 'Before and After' timeline. Humor was nicely mixed with the inevitable tragedy of time passing.
-- Ananke - Sun, 23 Mar 2003 14:18:19 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
I find myself quite drawn into the way Ventura33 writes. She has this detached tone that highlights single lines and actions rather than entire conversations and scenes. It's very effective. Janeway, Seven and (amazingly) Chakotay are all strong yet subtle characters in this story. if I'm going to buy Janeway going into motherhood I want to buy it this way.

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
As usual with one of Kelly's stories, the imagery is utterly breathtaking. This story does a good job in sorting out the tangled web of C/7, J/7 and J/C, the conflicting desires and needs, the complicated circumstances in which the characters find themselves both on Voyager and beyond. I particularly appreciated the sharp observation about J/C on board Voyager--that he wanted her on his own terms and when that was not possible, he took full effect in playing the role of martyr. This is one of the aspects of Chakotay's character and behavior that has consistently bothered me, and it's good to see him finally called on the carpet for it. The psammead's lesson about dreams and desires, and their bearing on reality, is wonderfully executed as well.
-- Rocky - Tue, 25 Mar 2003 03:16:18 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
Once again, Ventura shows she really has a way with the Borg. This was an enjoyable story--and one that (in the right hands) actually makes sense, considering how much 'mothering' Janeway has done previously as far as one particular Borg is concerned. Janeway's strength, and compassion, come through very clearly. I also appreciated the descriptions of Amelia.
-- Rocky - Tue, 25 Mar 2003 03:17:16 -0500

11Looks Aren't Everything by Cait N.
A sweet J/C 'finally get together' story, because we can never have enough of those!
-- Rocky - Tue, 25 Mar 2003 03:17:53 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
Remind me never to dare monkee to write something! This thoroughly improbable pairing results in an absolutely hysterical story, along with a clever twist at the end.
-- Rocky - Tue, 25 Mar 2003 03:18:36 -0500

15Than Fade Away by Jemima
Hee! Somebody's imagination certainly ran away with them on this one. Each new development is more wildly implausible than the last, and yet it all hangs together in a weirdly sensible kind of way.
-- Rocky - Tue, 25 Mar 2003 03:19:24 -0500

2Before the After by Court
This story was a great exploration of a universe that was seen only briefly in the Voyager episode Before and After. Tom's reaction when Harry asks for his daughter's hand in marriage was perfect, the 'quintessential' fatherly reaction given the situation. It was a wonderful read from a universe that showed tantalizing potential.
-- Whoa Nellie - Thu, 27 Mar 2003 19:04:08 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
Kelly tangles up pathos and humor, children's fiction, some things that need saying to late-seaon Chakotay and the phrase 'parochial narrowness.' All of this in a story which provides a sense of resolution that doesn't rely on pity for its characters. Smartly done.
-- the stylus - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 17:52:07 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
Lovely. Kelly never fails to delight, to reveal something new in the characters we know and love so well. This is a very intimate portrait of Chakotay, of his feelings for Janeway and Seven both. Beautiful.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:09:37 -0500

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
I love this fic. After years of failed plots to get J/C together, Seven takes matters into her own hands - with unexpected results. Jemima has Seven's voice down pat. Fun fic.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:23:25 -0500

7Fades Yet Endures by RoseKira
This is a story that really, really hurts. RoseKira is a master of angst and this fic really gets under Tom's skin.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:25:24 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
This is an interesting take on Seven post-Endgame.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:29:40 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
I love this fic! Finally, we know what happened to the Borg baby and Amelia is an absolute delight. There are some hilarious one-liners in this story such as Janeway's thoughts about revoking the Doctor's medical license but the ending is poignant and beautiful. This is probably my favorite story by Ventura33. Nice job.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:34:30 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
Bwahaha! Of all the post-Endgame fics that 'fix' the Chakotay/Seven relationship, this one is certainly one of the most original! I'm not likely to forget the nekkid Bolian anytime soon.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:36:41 -0500

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
*snerk* An interesting and amusing take on a popular riff. The revelation in this fic is quite original - very fun. Nice job, Rocky.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:42:37 -0500

15Than Fade Away by Jemima
Jemima blames me for this one and I'll certainly take it because this fic is pure fun. Alien spores abound and the send-ups of all the characters are hysterical. I'm not going to forget Garak/Seven anytime soon or B'Elanna in search of the perfect macroon. Tom as the hapless protogonist in this story is well-done.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:46:20 -0500

16Twist of Fate A Matter of Definition by Whoa Nellie
This fic is signature Whoa Nellie. I found her OC, Sassy, to be interesting and provocative.
-- Seema - Fri, 28 Mar 2003 22:50:47 -0500

2Before the After by Court
This story intrigued me, despite some grammatical problems. Court brings out the challenges and ironies of having a half-Ocampan daughter and your best friend for a prospective son-in-law. There were some great lines along the way, and overall it was a warm and humorous story.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:48:15 -0500

7Fades Yet Endures by RoseKira
This was an interesting turn of the tables on everyone involved. I enjoyed the first-person Tom and his pessimistic outlook on life.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:48:56 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
It took me a while to figure out who was narrating this story, but I really liked her take on Seven of Nine, forced to live among "inferiors with delusions of superiority."
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:49:31 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
I loved the sweet, innocent, scheming Seven of this story, as well as her clever use of the Borg baby. The ending was...unique.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:49:55 -0500

11Looks Aren't Everything by Cait N.
I enjoyed the humorous bits in this fic, though I was disappointed that J/Vorik wasn't real.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:50:49 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
Monkee proves once again that there's nothing like a good Bolian bathroom joke.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:53:26 -0500

13A Perfect Nightmare by Anne Rose
Neelix should tell horror stories like this one. It's an eerie read.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:54:03 -0500

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
This is a hilarious little story that hits all the fanon cliches about Chakotay's blondes, the dangers of dating Seven, the immortal love of J/C, and, last but not least, missing offspring finding their true parents. This story has to be read to be believed. I highly recommend it.
-- Jemima - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 00:54:32 -0500

2Before the After by Court
This captured well the eye-blink of the childhood of a part-Ocampan child and what that must have been like for her human parent. It was delightful to see Kes again, and I thought the author captured her sweet personality very nicely. The author was also good at bringing Linnis to life.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 02:59:20 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
I loved this lovely post-Endgame story from Kelly Chambliss. The author is so good at capturing the characters, from their voices, to the reflections you think they must be having. For instance, I like the observation of how the occasional dismissiveness in Seven's voice indicated how she sees personal, psychological issues as irrelevant and how that must make her a difficult person to confide in. I also like Kelly's insight that those very things that make Seven increasingly human are those things that would might make her more and more a stranger. Seven's personality, her growth, and her interactions with Chakotay struck me as true to both characters as did both their complex emotions for and their interactions with Janeway. I liked how Chakotay's dream of the desert tied in with what came later. And the story certainly takes a very unexpected and charming turn--and then turns around again when it forces Chakotay to face some uncomfortable truths. I like how this story tackles themes very familiar in Janeway/Chakotay stories and does so in fresh ways. I liked the bit of open-endedness in the conclusion. "Chakotay and It" is a lovely story that offers much insight into Janeway, Seven, and Chakotay.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:06:44 -0500

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
This was subversive, sacrilegious, and just plain evil and I loved, loved, loved every single word of it. I just loved every scene, the opening one with Seven and Paris where Jemima very gently tips her hand where she is going with this story, the next between Paris and Torres as he lists his futile attempts at matchmaking in the past (loved the spin on "Resolutions"). The next scene too was a riot. (and just about every one after.) I just loved how Jemima has set this up and then makes the most of her scenario. She does a simply wicked Seven voice and each phrase needs to be parsed for the hidden kick. I enjoyed how she handled all the various characters, Tom, B'Elanna, Janeway, Neelix, the Emergency Medical Hologram as well as all the different point of views within the story. This story took more than one unexpected turn and was a whole lot of fun from beginning to end. And the ending? Bwwwwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhaaaa!!! Great story.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:09:53 -0500

7Fades Yet Endures by RoseKira
This was a story with an interesting dynamic between Paris and Seven post-Endgame. Interesting observation about what Seven gave up in becoming human again, that in a way its "at step down for her." I thought Rose Kira did a good job in capturing Seven and Tom's voice. "Fades Yet Endures" is an interesting character study of both Tom and Seven.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:10:40 -0500

8Family Matters by Brigid
Nice look at the Paris household post-Endgame.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:11:02 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
This had a kicker of a last line.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:11:27 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
Given the premise, this story could have derailed in several different ways--but instead in Ventura's hands it was mucho fun, charming and genuinely heartwarming. I loved Seven's clever strategy in the story. The matching smirks on Seven and the Doctor were delicious. I LOVED the line about it being dangerous to leave any kid with the baby's personality loose. (Can't you just imagine Janeway as a child? Oh the horror!). But I really lost it when I read about the miniature coffee cup. That was priceless. There were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and Ventura has one of those styles that makes her stories a joy to read. I also appreciate how even in a humorous story like this one, Janeway's strength of character and compassion come through. "Imprinted" is proof once again that no one can outdo Ventura at her best when it comes to humor--and no one can match her when it comes to writing about the Borg. "Imprinted" is simply a terrific story.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:11:52 -0500

11Looks Aren't Everything by Cait N.
I thought this was a fun story to read. Cait writes a nice Chakotay.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:12:13 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
"Peacock Blue" is definitely a funny story with its indelible image of a very pungent Chell. But it's not all silliness. A lot of Seven's perceptions ring very true--about her and Chakotay's original reasons for attraction--and why it would seem to me they'd eventually fall away. Seven's stunned reaction to her discovery is just priceless and I loved her parting shot to Chell. Poor Seven. But fortunately Monkee makes it up to her;-) This is not a very alluring picture of Chakotay--but then that's the center of this piece's charm. And the ending was--well it was "perfection"
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:12:40 -0500

13A Perfect Nightmare by Anne Rose
Nicely spooky story. I like the reactions as Seven tells it.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:13:05 -0500

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
I got a good laugh from the very first lines. Seven's story was nicely wacky.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:13:24 -0500

15Than Fade Away by Jemima
I had to snicker as this story made the rounds of the Voyager characters post-Return plans. Each bit was funnier than the last from cookie-baking B'Elanna on. (My favorite fate probably being that of Tuvok) I enjoyed the appearance of the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine characters such as Beverly Crusher and Garak. I had to snicker at a certain comment of Janeway to Picard in particular. Tom's interaction with Garak was fun too. And the explanation among other things as to why the Borg never successfully assimilated Voyager was neat. "Than Fade Away" is a funny story.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:13:44 -0500

18When Irish Eyes Are Talaxian by RFK
Nice St. Patrick's Day tale.
-- Rabble Rouser - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 03:14:05 -0500

2Before the After by Court
I enjoyed this expansion of a brief moment in "Before and After." Court did a nice job of characterization and of capturing the father-daughter relationship.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:02:08 -0500

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
I don't think anyone captures Seven of Nine as well as Jemima. She suckered me into this one; I thought she was giving a fresh twist to a familiar gambit...then she twisted the result.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:05:36 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
Sturating a story with this much bitterness is a dangerous thing - it can go over the top, or alienate the reader. Rosekira takes it to the limit without going too far, leaving a memorable impression.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:07:01 -0500

7Fades Yet Endures by RoseKira
Please note - my previous comment on this story was intended for Rosekira's "The Good Sport", not this one. Please disregard it and I'll submit a proper one. Sorry.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:08:38 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
Another fascinating Borg story from Ventura. This is what should have happened to the Borg baby from "Collective," and what could so easily have happened to Janeway - if only TPTB been wiser. I really like that Ventura took the late-series Captain and got her to open herself to another human being. Very nicely done.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:11:40 -0500

11Looks Aren't Everything by Cait N.
A sweet story of mistaken conclusions, although it's a mistaken pairing I never imagined!
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:12:56 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
Another example of monkee's wicked sense of humor. Surely this is the first (and, please God, only) example of this particular Chakotay infatuation. The ending leaves the reader smirking.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:14:47 -0500

13A Perfect Nightmare by Anne Rose
Nice title for a brief look at the horrors of being Borg and the double-edged sword of a haven like Unimatrix Zero.

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
Snerk. I began laughing out loud with the revelation of Seven's biological father. No wonder Janeway got a headache from temporal anomolies!
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:18:45 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
Saturating a story with this much bitterness is dangerous, as the reader can be alienated. But Rosekira pushes the envelope without going too far, and leaves us with a memorable character study.
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:21:46 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
First, I was delighted to be reminded of a book I'd read in childhood but long forgotten. Then, I was stunned by the insight of this story. Although centered on Chakotay, I loved Seven and Janeway in this, too. Kelly writes with assuredness and wisdom in the way of relationships. This story was a treat. (Love the psammead, too. Great character).
-- Penny Proctor - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 07:36:10 -0500

9The Good Sport by RoseKira
Oh much darkness!! Wow, this is interesting and so very angsty. An interesting POV, a Seven that isn't the one we saw but isn't wrong either, and a very dark dynamic between all the J/C/7 folks. Good job!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:33:13 -0500

15Than Fade Away by Jemima
Bwa ha ha ha! Oh man, there are some scenes in here that, unlike Mr. Paris, I hope to NEVER erase from my brain. Than Fade Away is very clever stuff. Jemima gives us laugh-out-loud silliness that isn't all that implausible it's so well cemented in what we know. The dialogue is wonderful, Paris' inner dialogue is even more so. I love it all!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:33:32 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
I love this story! It is both very funny, very smart, and very sweet. Monkee has outdone herself on the dialogue here. It's sparse, but what there is of it, made me laugh out loud. I love the resolution, and the idea that nothing is as it seemed, but that that's still okay. Well done, monkee. As ever, your story charms me even as it makes me laugh!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:34:04 -0500

10Imprinted by Ventura33
Like many of Ventura33 stories, Imprinted has some very funny laugh-out-loud moments, and I love those, but I love this wondeful story even more for how it ends. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say much more about the plot except that the ending was touching and very believable and makes me get all mushy-sniffly every single time I read it. There is a respect and love for the characters evident here that is just marvelous. Ventura33 is a master at creating believable moments that you wish had happened. And in making you care about characters you might not really like anymore. Well done, Ventura33!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:35:52 -0500

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
Hee! This is great. I love the machinations that the two plotters go through to achieve their objectives. I love the reactions of the victims, and the ultimate resolution. Too funny!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:36:40 -0500

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
Not sure I get it, but fun
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:39:41 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
Chakotay and It is an inspired, fascinating and unique story! Kelly rips out all the stops for this one, borrowing a creature from early 20th century literature to bring the perfect original character into the mix. And this creature is perfectly designed to drive Chakotay crazy with his manner and speech! Hee! I love the psammead's lines! But more than anything, this story is an examination both of the road not taken and the view from the road Chakotay did select. I loved the alternate possibilities, the differences in his and Seven's attitude, and the way that no one is a villain in this piece. Very well done, Kelly, very well done!
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:41:08 -0500

13A Perfect Nightmare by Anne Rose
Chillingly effective.
-- Djinn - Sun, 30 Mar 2003 20:42:03 -0500

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
I found this story thoroughly enjoyable. Jemima never settles for the expected; the plots twists and turns of "Efficiency Expert" show that its author has a lot of expertise herself.
-- Kelly Chambliss - Mon, 31 Mar 2003 18:01:20 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
In her headnote, monkee says that I bear some of the blame for this story. Believe me, I'm happy to accept my share, as long as it results in stories as hilarious as this one. The J/7 fan in me loves Seven's second choice of partner. My favorite line: "Now Chakotay was enjoying Bolian bliss in a pungent desert cabin, and she was enjoying Kathryn in San Francisco." Bolian bliss, indeed!
-- Kelly Chambliss - Mon, 31 Mar 2003 18:06:44 -0500

14Perfection Is As Perfection Does by Rocky
Biology and space/time science of the future have a lot to answer for, if they lead to complications as Byzantine and mind-bending as these. Rocky's explanation for why C/7 doesn't work is. . . perfect. And some J/C, to boot.
-- Kelly Chambliss - Mon, 31 Mar 2003 18:12:57 -0500

18When Irish Eyes Are Talaxian by RFK
Oh My God. This is one of the most hilarious story I read this year, and still so well written that I felt an "awh" in my heart while I'm catching my breath from laughing. Please make more of the brew, Neelix.

6The Efficiency Expert by Jemima
I've read my fair share of matchmaking stories, but this must be the most amusing one so far. Especially the whole turbolift thing, Seven being apart of the planning in the beginning, to finally being caught herself in the end. Actually, Seven being involved of a plot like this at all is very funny. :)
-- Elise - Fri, 04 Apr 2003 05:46:33 -0500

4Chakotay and It by Kelly
This is a well-crafted crossover that explores Chakotay's frustration about his relationship -- or lack thereof -- with Janeway. His thoughts at the end are priceless! The poor chump doesn't even know what to wish for.
-- Ventura33 - Fri, 04 Apr 2003 20:13:35 -0500

12Peacock Blue by monkee
Hahaha! Monkee has definitely outdone herself here! From now on, I'll be sure to remember that anyone who dares her to write a story does so at their own peril! Chak certainly gets what he deserves for coming between Janeway and Seven -- but apparently, he enjoys it, inadequate plumbing and all. Heehee.
-- Ventura33 - Fri, 04 Apr 2003 20:19:39 -0500

13A Perfect Nightmare by Anne Rose
Just the sort of story that Seven would come up with, if she could ever be persuaded to join in telling scary stories. And she even scares the captain! Fun.

How much fun can we have with unusual pairings? Ask Jemima. Or just read this. LOL! Everyone goes mad but Tom Paris, and by the time he sees where everyone's ended up, he's not sure about himself, either. Miral chasing gagh and B'Elanna with her spatula were my favorites.

A matchmaking scheme gone wildly astray. Or not? Jemima has a wry take on the "crew too interesting in the J/C relationship" fanfic cliche, and I certainly appreciate it.
